Feria de Madrid will host the staging of MOTORTEC AUTOMECHANIKA Ibérica, a show that has resulted from an alliance between IFEMA and Messe Frankfurt that was formally established last 12th March by the heads of the two trade fair bodies. During the press conference that preceded the signing ceremony, Luis Eduardo Cortés, the Chairman of the IFEMA Executive Committee, stated that "this agreement seeks to boost the international character and appeal of the Show, whilst also ensuring that the participating companies enjoy greater projection abroad".

The World Forum for the Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations has approved a new version of Regulation 100 established by UNECE (The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) which will introduce a series of general provisions designed to cover different requirements concerning the safety of electric and hybrid cars.

As of January 2011, the British Government shall provide financial incentives for the purchase of electric cars, based on a series of subsidies that account for up to 25% of the vehicle's market value. These subsidies shall be available up until 2014.

Potential buyers of electric and eco-friendly vehicles will not only focus on environmental aspects when purchasing their models, given that more than half will only buy a vehicle of this kind when their benefits exceed those of conventional cars, according to the conclusions of an international survey carried out by the consultants, Accenture.

The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed the period 2011-2020 as "The Decade of Action for Road Safety", with a view to establishing strategies and developing local action programmes that will help to save five million lives over the next ten years
